DosanSeowon Confucian Academy

Here is an article from our friend Ryan during his visit to the Confucian Academy:

Nestled in the hills north of Andong along a river, lies a secluded Confucian academy, DosanSeowon, that was once home to famous Korean scholars. The studies at the school and the teachings of resident scholar Yi Hwang helped define and distinguish Korean Confucian ideologies. After a 30-45-minute drive north of Andong and a short walk with gorgeous lookouts over a fertile valley flanked by deep green water, you will find yourself at the foot of the school.

Inside the school there are nearly 500-year-old buildings that are still inhabited and used occasionally throughout the year for ceremonies.
Although the school is only used occasionally, it legacy is still felt in the culture, politics, and history of Andong.
